Important Considerations In Buying Herb Grinders

By Lisa Kelly

Many people look for grinders that they can use for their herbs, weed, or marijuana. But there are many of these people who do not know how to look for high quality ones that do not endanger their health. Truth be told, those that you see in gas stations or head shops may not be as reliable as they seem because they can be dangerous.

It is not hard to find grinders because multitudinous manufacturers are making sure that they are producing their own, but looking for the correct one which does not come with health hazards is what is tough. Important considerations associated with purchasing herb grinders include its value, performance, and material, among many others. The things listed below are the ones you need take a considerable amount of thinking before deciding to buy a grinder.

Of course, the first that you need to take note of is the material from which it is made of. The most common ones are made of plastic, wood, and metal. There are a lot of advantages as well as disadvantages that come along the material so it is important that you do your homework and research on those to be aware rather than just choosing by aesthetic or price.

The teeth of most acrylic grinders are made out of the same material which can break easily, while the ones in wood are mostly made of nails which can rust overtime. The teeth on metal ones are mostly made of aluminum and sometimes, are coated with titanium. Consider choosing one with the most durable teeth as it will be one of the many factors that can affect the quality of grounded herb.

Another thing that has something to do with its teeth is its size, shape, as well as the number that one has. Most would have 25 to 50 sets of teeth in a diamond shape, the shape which is the most commonly used. When looking for a grinder, find one that has many of these because the more that there is placed, the better the grinding of the herb will be.

The holes on a shredder allow the ground herb to drop or fall into the second compartment. Many brands utilize circular hole pattern, while there are those who use other patterns such as oval shaped holes. What you need to remember in choosing one is to look for the pattern which would allow only the completely ground material to fall into the second compartment.

When grinding, there is a tendency for the parts to fall apart which would cause the contents to spill. One thing you need to look at are those with magnets on their lids as such will keep it from popping off or falling apart. Look for ones with magnets that are not only strong but also properly attached so as to prevent coming loose overtime.

Most have also incorporated a dash of style and design to most grinders to cater to many individuals. There are manufacturers who have placed handles on them to allow for easier grip while there are also those who came up with removable screens. Choose one that will not only be stylish but will make the grinding process easier.

Extras such as carry pouches or scrapers also come when you purchase such. Although others may not, these are very helpful especially the pouch in terms of protecting your tool. There are brands that come with extra scrapers, too.
