Pinterest Referral Traffic Driving Big Increase In E-Commerce Revenue

By Hanif Imran

Facebook is king of social. At least it has seemed that way for quite a while now. But how close to reality is that perception? Not as close as you think, at least not for e-commerce businesses that actually want to make sales and turn a profit from their advertising.

When it comes to Pinterest, you need to make sure that anything you post ends up there. Once it is in the system it can get reshared which means more traffic for you. The way it is set up is nice because it allows the user to easily reshare anything they enjoy. If someone likes what you post, you want it to end up there.

According to Piqora, which is a company that looks at analytics online, says that e-commerce revenue for the first six months of the year had increased a whopping 67%. After looking at a variety of different data providers, including information from Google analytics, they were actually able to discern how much revenue every pin provided for different types of products. For instance, when looking at 100% as a total, 90% of the pins that led to sales on the Web had to do with retail brands, home decor brands and apparel brands.

If you think about it, when someone is sharing their favorite shoes with someone, or a dress that they like, they are going to share it with people that also wear dresses and shoes. This means that the demographic was primarily female in regard to who is sharing these types of pins. This is viable information that has shown people that Pinterest is a valuable asset for making money online.

If you have an e-commerce business, you should seriously consider looking at Pinterest as a method by which you can generate additional traffic and sales for the products or services that you have that fit these types of products and demographics.

As you probably know, people are addicted to watching videos on the web. YouTube was purchased by Google for over $1 billion because they saw how powerful visual images, especially moving ones, actually are. In the same way, still images such as pictures of family members, travel locations, or even items that you purchase are often shared across the Internet from person to person. Pinterest is a website that allows you to create galleries of pictures that you find important, and makes it very easy for people to share what you have shared with the people that they know. This simple concept has led to a 67% increase in the revenue for e-commerce this year. Let's look at why this happened, and how this can also benefit you.
